In this tutorial we’ll create a bathroom tile texture:

1. Start by making a new file with the Width=512 and Height=512. 2. Using the custom shape tool draw the grid shape on the hole canvas like in the image below: Photoshop-tutorial-bathroom-tile-texture-1 3. Go to: Layer->Rasterize->Shape to rasterize the layer. 4. Ctrl+Click on the layer thumbnail in the layer stack to select the countour of the shape, then press Shift+Ctrl+I to invert the selection. 5. Make a new layer and using the Paint Bucket Tool fill the squares like in the image below with #fff3d3 as the light color and #303030 as the dark color: Photoshop-tutorial-bathroom-tile-texture-2 6. Press Ctrl+D to deselect the shape then Go to: Layer->Layer Style->Blending Options and apply the following styles:

  • Drop Shadow:

  • Inner Shadow:

  • Bevel and Emboss:

  • Use Contour with the default settings.

7. Select the grid layer and apply the following styles:

  • Bevel and Emboss:

  • Colour Overlay with #534d3e as the color.

8. Make a new layer above the squares layer. Then Go to: Filter->Render->Clouds. Set the layer blending mode to Multiply. 9. Go to: Image->Adjustments->Brightness/Contrast and set the Brightness=100 and Contrast=-36, then Go to: Filter->Noise->Add Noise and set the Amount=3,3 the Distribution=Uniform and Monochromatic selected.

The final result should look like the one bellow:
